Welcome, TrumanMoney clients. You’ve been referred here to start the onboarding process for professional tax preparation. Use the steps below to book your appointment, upload your documents, and complete your intake so we can process your return accurately and on time.


Step 1 — Book Your Appointment

Choose the option that fits you best:

Option A: Virtual Appointment (Recommended)

  • Secure video/phone appointment
  • Great for W-2, self-employed, and families
  • Faster document review + follow-up

Option B: In-Person Appointment

  • Bring documents (or upload in advance for faster service)

What happens after you book:

You’ll receive a confirmation with your appointment details and a link to upload documents + complete your intake form.


Step 2 — Complete the Intake Form (Required)

Before your appointment, please complete the intake so we can verify identity, understand your situation, and prevent delays.

 You’ll provide:

  • Full legal name, DOB, SSN/ITIN (as applicable)
  • Current address and contact info
  • Filing status and dependents
  • Income sources (W-2, 1099, business, rental, etc.)
  • Banking info (for direct deposit, if applicable)


Step 3 — Upload Your Tax Documents

To process your return, upload clear photos or PDFs of your documents. If you’re missing something, upload what you have—then we’ll tell you what else is needed.

Common documents checklist

Identity & verification

  • Government-issued photo ID (front/back)
  • Social Security card / ITIN letter (taxpayer + spouse + dependents, if available)

Income documents

  • W-2 (all jobs)
  • 1099-NEC / 1099-K / 1099-MISC
  • 1099-INT / 1099-DIV / 1099-B (investments)
  • SSA-1099 (Social Security)
  • 1099-R (retirement/pension)
  • Unemployment (1099-G)
  • K-1s (if applicable)

Deductions & credits (if applicable)

  • Childcare expenses (provider name, EIN/SSN, amount)
  • Education (1098-T + receipts)
  • Mortgage interest (1098) + property taxes
  • Rent totals (if relevant to your state/local situation)
  • Charitable contributions
  • Medical insurance forms (1095-A if Marketplace)
  • Business expenses (summary, mileage, receipts)
  • Rental income/expenses

Prior-year info

  • Last year’s tax return (helpful, especially new clients)

Upload tips (prevents delays)

  • One file per document type if possible
  • Include all pages (even blank backs if required)
  • Make sure names and numbers are readable


Step 4 — What We’ll Do Next

After intake + documents are received, we will:

  1. Review for missing items
  2. Confirm scope and pricing (if not already established)
  3. Prepare your return
  4. Send for e-signature and payment (as applicable)
  5. E-file your return once approved
